Abstract

Meditation has received growing attention in the public and academics, especially in brain science. At present, more research focuses on the physiological and psychological effects of meditation, that are the applications of meditation, but the theoretical research of meditation and the exploration of brain science mechanism are still in their initial stage, and the concept and connotation of meditation are not clear enough. This paper has sorted out and refined the concept and classification of meditation and put forward the definition and connotation of meditation. Based on the existing research results of brain mechanism, this paper preliminarily summarizes the brain mechanisms of meditation that affect attention, emotion, self-consciousness, and heart-brain axis, providing references for follow-up research.
